Long time TiVo user, long time DirecTv subscriber, first-time HD DirecTv/TiVo box user. I don't currently have any actual HDTVs, but I thought I ought to upgrade the satellite stuff when we moved recently. Just now getting settled, and finding out that my latest & greatest DirecTv / TiVo unit is actually sort of behind the times when compared to my SD TiVo S2 units. I think I have an R10, but I'm not sure how to tell.

Anyhow, a couple of questions...First, will this thing communicate with my other S2 units as far as multi-room viewing? I never had mine hooked up at the previous house due to wiring issues, but I pre-wired for them at the new house and I'm getting ready to hook it all up. It's my understanding that with multiple S2 units I can basically use the one in the bedroom to view programming stored on the unit in the media room, right? Where will the DirecTv unit fit into this? Will it play well with others?

Also, anyone else have a problem with home theater remotes not controlling their unit? Seems like some of the buttons don't always elicit a response from the box, although I may just need to re-learn the codes.

Finally, I know there is an active "hacking" community, but I'm wondering if there are any hacks that I ought to seriously consider (without, as you may have guessed, spending the rest of my day researching them).

Thanks in advance...

That is not supported for a stock HD Tivo.

Networking so it will work with your other rcvrs., I believe, is one of the available hacks. I don't have a link, though.
