Well since D* is now offering my RSN in HD(when broadcast in HD) I called up to see what are the costs for the h20 and the 5lnb dish so I can actually get the giants, A's and Kings games in HD when available.
At first, the csr said I could not get the RSN because of where I live. Then after a little questioning the logic of this on my part, she put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and said I could indeed receive Fox Sports Bay Area in HD with the new receiver. Which she said was all free, the dish, the receiver, new multiswitch, and instalation. I just got the Hr10-250 free last month.
She then said(no questioning by me) that in the fall when the new HD DVR comes out all I would need to do is to call up and make a switch. She did not know if there would be a cost for this.
Bottom line, I have yet to pay anything other than shipping to get every new receiver I have ever gotten. That is 2 SD tivos, one HD tivo, and H10, and now an H20.
I like free, free is good.

Is it a new 2 year commitment (or did that occur when you got your HR10-250)? Are you just going to hook up the H20 to the same tv and is there a mirroring fee no matter what tv it is attached to?

Let's hope that this pattern holds true for all of us when the new HD DVR comes out!!

She didnt say anything about a new 2 year extension, but who cares, I just got one last month. The extra commitment is no biggie to me. I am fairly happy with D* (anyone mention Sunday Ticket??) and Im not leaving anyway.

This was something I had to ponder. I can not go without a tivo on my tv, So I just decided that if i can pay 4k for a tv, I can suck it up and pay the 4.99 fee for the extra receiver until the new HD DVR comes out. So I will have the hr10-250 and the h20 both hooked up to my LR TV. Kind of sucks, but not a big deal really. More importantly, I will be getting the new 5lnb dish NOW, so when the new DVR does come out, I wont have to get it then.
ALL around good deal for me. Im happy.

I think I might also try this. Just to clarify, the current non-mpeg4 receivers will work fine with the new dish?

Can you confirm that the SF Giants will be shown in HD? Everything I have read is that Comcast has exclusive rights because they paid for the cameras etc... Thats why the KTVU broadcasts are SD.

If the Giant games are national Fox they are in HD over KTVU. Selected games are broadcast in HD on D* Ch 95.

I can not say that the giants games are in HD. We would also not be gauranteed any games in HD. I would guess the home games woul dbe in HD and the road games would be hit & miss. I dont really care about the Giants personally. It was my understanding that the Giants are part of the FS Bay area RSN and their games would be in HD also. I watch the A's so it doesnt matter to me. It is getting installed on Wed so Ill let you know as soon as I find out.
I was actually more concerned with the Sac Kings games as I was tired of watchng them in SD when they were being broadcast in HD. I wont have that problem next year.

FSN Bay Area HD is functional as we speak...when Giants/A's are televised through Fox National, it is actually 480 but widescreen (haven't you guys noticed how crappy it looks?)...hey Hoops - what FSN are the Kings televised on? How can you get the Giants, A's, Warriors, and Kings at the same time? I thought they were different channels...
Btw....GO A'S!!

Actually, let me take a step back. I am incorrect. The kings are on Comcast Sports West which is channel 656, which is not part of this stuff..... DAMN. I actually get the NBA league pass so I get all the nba games. The kings games are in HD, but not on the fox RSN. I hope now that D* has the extra bahdwidth, league pass will also be in HD this year.
CRAP!!!!!!!!!! I guess the A's are all ill really be watching, but ill keep my fingers crossed about D* getting the Comcast stuff in HD also. The Warriors are on FSBA, but to be honest, since I have League Pass, Im not sure if their games wouldnt be blacked out for me as a year or 2 ago they changed my area from the Warriors area to the Kings.
