Hi everyone,

I just had the hr10-250 installed yesterday and everything seemed to be working fine. But today I noticed when I am recording a show on channel 70, HBOHD, I cannot watch anything else in the 500's at the same time. I either get a searching for signal on satellite 1 or call customer service ext. 721. I also have an HDVR2 and an R15 and they both work fine. I checked the signal strength and I am getting in the 90's. But when I check the individual transponders I am not receiving a signal on transponder 23 on sat 119 and a signal of 37 on transponder 31. On my R15 I get a strength of 93 and 90 on those transponders, but a 47 on transponder 28 on sat 119 and 101.

I was wondering if all 4 lines from the dish have to go to the same multiswitch? The installers have 2 lines going to a multiswitch in my attic for the HDVR2 and the R15 in my bedroom and in my office. The other 2 lines go to a multiswitch in the garage and then to the HDTV in my living room. They also used my existing cable that was installed when the house was built in 84. I believe it is RG59. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The installer did not install the multswitchs correctly. All four lines must go from the dish to the multiswitch. Call DirecTV and have them send out a competent installer.

Can I cascade the multiswitchs? If the installers put a multiswitch in the attic with all 4 lines, can they then just send 2 down to the existing multiswitch in the garage? I plan on adding more TV's from the multiswitch they put in the garage and I am also planning on adding more TV's to the multiswitch in the attic.

I am thinking that you will have to have 4 lines run from the dish to the multiswitch in the attic and then 4 lines run from that multiswitch to the one in the garage.

I maybe wrong about this someone please correct me if I am.

If you only need 101 then go for it.

This scenario will work, but you will lose access to the 110/119 sats. If you only need 101 then go for it.You are assuming the OP is running to a 2x4 multiswitch in the garage. If you run to a 2x4 multiswitch you will only get the 101 satellite. If you run to a 4x8 multiswitch you will just get strange results as you have been seeing.

So let me see if I understand, so I can explain it to the installers. I need 4 wires from the dish into a 4x8 multiswitch in the attic, then 4 lines to a multiswitch for the 4 bedrooms upstairs. And then the other 4 lines from the attic multiswitch to the garage multiswitch for the 2 rooms downstairs.

I just got the HR10-250 installed and I am having the same problem. It is searching for Satellite 1 and some channels are not available, yet on my SD Tivo in the bedroom everything is fine.
Can somebody clarify what kind of multiswitch I need. I think I have only 2 inputs and 8 outputs. What I think I hear is that I need 4 inputs and a 6 outputs if I have 3 TV's of which one is a HDTV.
Is that correct?
Can somebody recommend a good site to get a good multiswitch.

Thanks for the help.
