I just started to run the zipper on a brand new wd 250 gb drive. I mounted my tools cd, ran zipper. it says all required files found. Asks me for my drive - which is "a". it the errors out saying "no software image detected on tools disk. proceding with existing image on drive"
obviously it doesnt find an image on the brand new drive.
do i need to format the drive 1st?
when I mounted the tools cd it said something about it being read only. Could that be a problem?
the image is definitely on the disk I renamed it 000001.mfs
I am using ptvs free disk with my own kernal and 6.2 image.
Thanks,
Z

rename it to 000001 (no .mfs) and it will work.

THANKS,
that worked!!
my dsr7000 works now and I can watch tv, but i was unable to get a bash# so I cant run the enhanced scripts.
I am using a linksys usb100m, with my dlink di-704p router. My router uses the standard dlink ip address, and I entered the default tivo ip address when I ran the zipper.
when I entered the telnet command it gave me back the following error:
"could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed"
Any clues?
Thanks everyone for your help, I really appreciate it.

Download a program like "Angry IP Scanner". It will scan an IP range and show you if your router has given the Tivo an IP address or not.

Ok,
I was able to finish runner the enhanced zipper scripts using teraterm and my old serial cable. There was an option to update the usb drivers so I did it. I pretty much said yes to all the enhanced scripts.
I have still not been able to get the telnet working in command prompt. it keeps saying "could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed"
Could it be my usb100m. lights are on. It worked fine on my old laptop.
I also downloaded anger IP scanner, and searched all 192.168 ip's. all it found were the connected pcs and my networked printer.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for all your help

You said you gave it the "default tivo ip". Is it possible that that is in a different subnet than the dlink LAN subnet?

I am not a networking guru by any stretch. can you explain to me what you mean here? I can logged into my router.
Under LAN
MAC Address XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
IP Address 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server Enable
I am pretty sure these are default settings. But if your suggestion can help I am eager to explore the possibility. Should I change my tivoipaddress? If so to what? Is there an easier way to do it besides re-running the zipper on my drive?
Thanks,
Z

First, What IP address did you give the Tivo?
If you gave it the one from the Zipper instructions - 192.168.1.101- then that is your problem. You need to give it an address on your LAN which is in 192.168.0.x range.

thanks ttodd1,
that is the tivoipaddress I used. How do I change it? I can get a serial bash. is there set of commands or a script that I can run to reset the ip address of my tivo?
Thanks,
Z

in bash, type:
author
that should open your author file (/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit.author) in joe,
if these lines exist, delete them:
######### One-time Zipper network setup. May be deleted. ####################################
mount -o remount,rw /
tivosh /hacks/network.tcl ipaddresshere routeriphere
mount -o remount,ro /
######### End of Zipper network setup. ####################################
then run net-launch:
sh /enhancements/net-launch.sh
