<deep sigh> As if it weren't already too long of a wait.

Just have someone wack him in the knee the 1st episode. What's Tanya Harding doing these days?

How rude and inconsiderate of Gandolfini not to time his injury to coincide with Tony's coma...

at least it will give chase time to rework the scripts and hopefully get the show back on track for the final episodes.

Let's just push it back til the end of 09, finish off the decade strong :)

Is that show still on? I was hoping they'd pickup AD or Surface.

If the show was going to start in January, it would have been up against the playoffs and superbowl anyway...

So they opted for March Madness instead. Super. However - the show should be on after all of the games are over for the day.

Yeah, I don't get that.

Because of "unexpected" knee surgery for series star James Gandolfini, the concluding episodes that were expected to begin in January will be delayed about two months, HBO Chairman Chris Albrecht said.

The surgery alone would have pushed the season start back just a few weeks, but that would have put "The Sopranos" up against the football playoffs and the Super Bowl, Albrecht told a television critics' gathering Wednesday.

If it was scheduled to start in January, and the surgery alone pushes the season back a few weeks, it's pushing it clear of the playoffs and Superbowl...Unless they are just talking about the premiere episode not getting lost in the hype.

I hope his wallet and ego heal up ok, too.

He keeps getting fatter and fatter no wonder his knee blew out.

Wow, anyone catch this...

Albrecht [HBO chairman] also said that HBO will be offering debuts of its original series on HBO on Demand six days before they air on the HBO channel.

I have HBO, but have no idea what HBO on Demand is, other than I see it being plugged after every episode of anything. Am I reading this correctly? One will be able to see the Sunday episodes the previous Monday?

Oh well. Doesn't feel like I'm missing to much. The last few episodes were more than disappointing. :(

I take "debuts of its original series" to be pilot episodes of new shows. Not Sopranos episodes.

But HBO On Demand is a very cool service that comes "free" with a Digital Cable and HBO subscription. You get the entire current seasons of the series (the night after they air), plus older episodes, specials, and movies (though, those are in 4:3, so I rarely watch them and opt for Netflix instead). All selectable from a menu interface to start whenever you want to watch.

I wish they would have taken DEAD LIKE ME after Showtime dropped it.
What a great show. Better then Six Feet Under.

I'm having a hard time getting a mental picture of this:

A collision with a taxi knocked him off his scooter but he reportedly was able to walk away.

Tony Soprano on a scooter????

It's easier if you picture Kevin Finnerty on a scooter.

HBO is starting to experiment with offering shows OnDemand BEFORE they air normally.

They're doing this in the fall with Season 4 of The Wire and the new season of Def Comedy Jam.

One reason they're finally doing this is because those "airings" are now being counted in ratings. Whereas before, OnDemand viewings could decrease regular viewings' ratings.

While Sopranos is much different than The Wire and Def Comedy Jam, there's nothing to indicate these pre-offerings won't be available for Sopranos' final season too.
