im new to this forum and this may have already been covered. i'm having trouble with installation of a off air antenna. i have cut my sat 1 lead outside and installed a diplexer. from there the lead is again diplexed inside and into the sat 1 and astc input. i am getting no signal on sat 1 whan this is done. i removed both and am getting full signal from the wall without the diplexer on sat 1(only sat 1 input) and then full signal on the off air antenna(only astc input). why is this happening? all cables are direct to the sattilite from the wall with no interuptions. has anyone else had a similar problem? i would like to aviod dropping another cable as there are already 2 drops (for the dvr) made and it is quite a pain.

Make sure the diplexers you are using only pass DC on the sat leg. If they aren't, then the OTA antenna is interfering with the LNB switching signals.

i would imagine that they are as they where provided by my sattilite company. they said these are the ones that they use themselves. could it have anything to do with the type of cable (rg6/rg59)?

The type of cable should not matter, although RG6 is preferred; and, in many cases, required. Double check that the cabling is correct. The diplexers should say what goes where, i.e. SAT. on this output and OTA on the other.
If they are correct, you may have (a) bad diplexer(s). Have your satellite install company replace the diplexers.
