"Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King" starts tonight on TNT. There will be 8 one-hour episodes, each based on a different King short story, with two airing each week. It looks like they are from various collections of his (not just the Nightmares & Dreamscapes book).

July 12:
- Battleground
- Crouch End

July 19:
- Umney's Last Case
- The End of the Whole Mess

July 26:
- The Road Virus Heads North
- The Fifth Quarter

August 2:
- Autopsy Room Four
- You Know They've Got a Hell of a Band

DISCLAIMER: I have no idea if these shows will be any good -- this is all I know about them. :) Most movies and TV shows based on King's stories have been disappointing compared to the books (remember Desperation?), but fans like myself like to give them a chance. I prefer Stephen King's short stories to his novels, personally, so here's hoping these shows will do them justice.

I will watch them but Stephen King has a problem with ending his stories. Usually the endings are a big let down.

The local paper's TV critic (who is generally not an idiot) says these range from fair to some of the best television this year. He also says the best one is the first one tonight, and the worst one (or the least-good one) is the second.

Does any one know if we're supposed to watch these in any particular order?
The July 12th episodes are 106 and 107 and the July 19 episodes are 102 and 103.

I watched the first one last night and really enjoyed it. As a Stephen King reader, I knew the ending...but the play out of it was excellent! Unfortunately I didn't tivo or watch the second one. I will be watching next week though!

They're completely unrelated short stories. Those numbers are just production codes.

The 1st one was great. Really neat to see that story come to life.

2nd one was bad. Story crappy and the acting was pretty bad as well. Really excited though if all the rest are better than the 2nd one.

Really look forward to the last one "You know they got a hell of a band"

We will see how this one ends but the 1st hour alone beat Desperation.

I can't wait to see what they do with "The Cell" that came out in book form last fall.
