I've had TiVo working flawlessly on my network setup for months. But I realized I am only using my internet service ($40/mo) for connecting to the TiVo network for programming updates.
I don't have land line, so I can't use the phone option, or can I?
Couldn't I somehow connect my Treo650 to the TiVo (either in network or phone mode)?
Any help would be appreciated.

Programming updates come from the satellite. Hack your DVR to not call out.

Who says the OP has satellite?
IMO. you likely could, but unless you have a good data plan, I'd look for a cheaper internet or landline phone solution.

Yeah, I'm using a regular cable TiVo.
I'm not talking about using my data plan minutes on my Treo.
I'm just thinking of every several days or so, connecting my TiVo up to my cell phone (happens to be a Treo so I have more connection options, i.e., DUN, Internet, modem, phone, Bluetooth, etc.) and letting the TiVo dial out, just like it would if I had a land line, get my account status, download the latest programming info, then hang up. Shouldn't be any longer than 5 minutes.

BTW,
I did find a post where an individual used his cell phone connected to his PC to access the internet and then setup an adhoc network with TiVo and the PC to download updates. It is one more step than I felt was necessary, but it may be my best bet.
