If I cut off my right thumb; it on it's own could figure out these puzzles. They're not puzzles really, they're more like things you used to read on the back of cereal boxes when you were a kid eating breakfast on Saturday mornings.

This game just got so much better. Do you continue as a 3 person team or do you eliminate a team member to save 3 hours...I'm betting something will come up down the road where it will be an advantage to have all three of your players.
As far as the Fogals...I was so glad they left their daughter behind. She was such a drama queen. But as the mom was leaving her and her mom seemed to put on a big deal about it, I could see where she got it from...
EDIT: OMG I can't believe they came back for her!

But if everybody comes back for their teammates, what was the point?
Agreed about the simplicity of the puzzles, it's more like paint-by-numbers and they all seem to find some of the "solutions" as if there's a guy off-camera whispering the answers to them all.

I have no doubt that someone is giving them the answers. How would the Brown's know that they were looking for the book in the flag, in the tunnel? I could see the first teams realising that there were more than one of them so they could figure out there was one for each, but when the Browns got there there was only one left so how would they know that that was what they were looking for?

Did I miss how the teams are being delayed by three hours? I'm sure it wasn't a 1.5 hour boat trip each way, was it? The "left behind" team members weren't waiting for three hours were they?
So if the Geniuses drop their player, do they effectively "pass" Ex-CIA and get the $30,000? I thought it was all a strategic decision to help you get to the money first. I imagined a TAR-style penalty where Ex-CIA had to sit for three hours within 10 feet of the $30k treasure chest and pray that no one else dropped a teammate...

The "geniuses" contenplated getting rid of their slower teammate. The two in the boat were discussing that it was their best move to not come in last. Then we got "To be continued".

My wife and I were commenting on that. They had to be talking to each other. Someone had to use 'The Motorola' to call them.
The Browns are going to be the new Wild Hanlons. Just absolute idiots. How do they end up so far behind every single time.
The Geniuses are probably only good at video games. They have yet to have one of those grand moments of insight that shows us how smart they are.

I assumed the 3 hours was the length of the trip to pick up the 3rd member. I don't know if they said it specifically, I guess we'll find out next week for sure.

I wouldn't bet on finding out next week, the producers had the teams transport to Boston without any details. We got a hint that they drove to NYC when teams talked about how long they'd been in the car that day.
My take was the boat ride was 90 mins long. If one team member goes back for another, the round trip to get them will be 3 hours, the delay we were told about.
They didn't show us the single team members waiting at the far end of the boat ride waiting for the other two to get there. That part could have been interesting if the 2nd team arrives and sees that the 1st team is now in their 3 hour delay (unless the teams were more than 3 hours apart ).
All the talk about team loyalty was nice and all, but there were a couple scenarios worth seriously considering ditching the 3rd member:
You're in 1st or 2nd place and saw the other team head back to get the 3rd member. Now you know you're in first, and you'll have up to a 3 hr lead to get the gold. 10k is nice consolation price for the abandoned member. Heck, promise them 1/2. You might be cashing in for a little bit of money now though while hindering your chances to win overall. If the producers were smart ( for a change ) they'd have a task down the road that was specifically designed to favor 3-person teams.
You're dead last and the next placed team is heading back to get their 3rd member. If you also add a 3hr delay you'll be last. The geniuses are in this situation now. As far as they know, the two Browns might show up just as one leaves to pick up the 3rd guy.

They have to have someone telling them. Why else would they know to look for a book wrapped in a piece of cloth. The first group didn't so why did the remainder? I could understand if someone told them but when the last two groups got there no one else was. Pretty stupid at this point.

I don't think it took 3 hours to get back to the third member...It was just part of the game. AS in, the two of you can take off now and have a big lead, but if you want to continue as a team you have to sit out and wait 3 hours and possibly watch others fly by you as a two man team. At least that's what I was assuming because you could have very easily fit all three people on to the boat, so leaving a person behind was just like a mind game to provide an extra twist.

Could not be 1.5 hrs each way as the pick up boat had to go back to the dock to get "left behind" and go back to the other team members. If it took 1.5 to go, 1.5 to go back and 1.5 to get to the forward area, that's 4.5 hrs, not 3. If the delay was 3 hours, the boat went 1 hr away from the stranded teammate.

All teams need to go the first 1.5 hours. If you decide to go back, you take another 3 hours (1.5 hr there and back). Therefore if you don't go back, you are saving 3 hours time because you can leave right after the initial 1.5 hours. At least that is how I thought it works.

I think there are nine episodes, which didn't make sense with only 7 artifacts but it looks like they made this last show a two-hour show.
The game won't get interesting until all the dross is eliminated. Pretty much that is only the Brown's at this time.

I know! For real...she was acting like she was abandoning her daughter for LIFE and that she would never see her again. Come on, you guys are family, if you win the money you're all going to share it anyway. What's the difference if she continues on with you or sits the rest of the race out??? But for whatever reason when the mom came back for her she was all happy that she came back. I'm sorry, if that were me and I was honestly just tired and fed up with the race, I think I'd want to hit my mom for coming back and getting me!

Not a great correlation, but when Celebrity Poker Showdown dumped Kevin Pollack after the first season and went with Dave Foley, I enjoyed the show a lot more.
Tighten up the game as people have mentioned (smart-it-up as opposed to dumb-it-down?) and get a new, real host and it could be good.

I dont know if people are telling the teams what to do, but I dont think it would take long to realize that once you came out of the tunnel without the map and glasses (even if you didnt see the other groups had one), you wouldnt have much of a clue what to do next. Im not sure how the Browns figured it out though, that would be pretty tough to figure out that the thing stuffed in the little black bag was a clue...
Have you noticed that there are so many rules that the teams abide by that arent mentioned at all by the narrator. If i was first to a the seven keys i would take them all and throw six in the swamp... but nobody ever does anything like that.

Well... I don't remember ever seeing on TAR that you are only allowed to take one clue at a clue box (or whatever they call it), but would assume that's the case since I've never seen anyone take the whole stack of clues with them in order to hinder the other teams. I'm sure there are plenty of rules that we don't know about because they just don't have time to go through them all. On the other hand, they would have plenty of time to explain some extra little things like that if they didn't show the robot host giving the same information to every team over and over.

During TAR #6, one of the teams dropped their clue between the clue box and their car, so they ran back and grabbed another clue. When they got to the pitstop, they were told that they had broken the rules by taking an extra clue and had to wait (30 minutes, I think) before they could officially check in.
As you say, there are a lot of rules that never get mentioned unless someone breaks them.

I don't know how fair it is, but my guess is that they will be allowed to continue to the end of the leg at least, since they have the option to drop one of their teammates on this leg anyway. I don't see much chance for them at this point... maybe if the Geniuses decide to go back for their third member, but it's still probably a long shot at best.

If they could finish this leg with two members, then why could they not continue the race assuming (big assumption) that they don't finish last. Robohost was very clear that if you chose to leave a team member behind now, you would be down a member for the rest of the hunt. The Brown's have already dropped their member. (Interesting that they didn't give the Grad Students this option, however that would have been unfair as they would have automatically gotten the extra 3 hours without having to make a decision.)

I think Max Headroom actually said that "At any time" you may leave the third team member behind. If that is the case, then the Browns would not be out if a third member departed.
Now, the bigger question is how far back are they? Editing made it look like the Geniuses were leaving for the boat trip before the Browns even found the first key. It's possible that the whole Brown sequence was completed and the 2 remaining Browns started back on the trek BEFORE the Geniuses (why do we call them that :D ) left the dock.

I think the show has promise and it's still interesting to watch. But is it just me or is everyone having a hard time following the rules for each leg. I think they are VERY poorly explained. Yes, I know that we are supposed to guess along with the teams somewhat, but I for one is having trouble with it and it gets very confusing. This whole three hour thing, has me confused, and reading the thread, there seems to be confusion too. Plus, I was not sure if it's only THIS leg or for the rest of the game they would be going with only two if they left one behind (consesus seems that it's the rest of the game). They also need to flash the names of the players more often. I don't think we get to know the teams well enough.

Just watched this as my wife was traveling. I agree about the clues just not being that good of a clue. Plus, the Miss USA team should have known right away that they did not get the clue because of not getting a phone call. THat is why I don;t like them as they let the team know that they have got the solution to each clue, only in this case they did not pick up on it.
It will be really funny if the next task after the leave your team mate behind leg is something that gives a 3 person team a big advantage.
