I'm moving to a rental next week. Fortunately, it already has a DTV dish installed. Unfortunately, all of the runs from the multiswitch a single cable. Running more cable is not an option, so I'm investigating using a stacker/destacker. I have a couple questions which all my searching hasn't answered well.

1) Can the stacker handle signals from both sats? I keep seeing stuff that indicates that the stacker will only stack the signals from one satellite. Is this true?

2) We have 2 Directivos. I'm assuming I can using one stacker and 2 destackers. Right?

1. Regular stackers, you are correct. Only the 101 sat position is supported. Smart stackers work with multi-sat dishes.

2. True with regular stackers. If you wanted multi-sat on both DirecTivos, then you would need two smart stackers as well. I'm not sure how long you will be in this rental but that is a huge investment.

So, what do I lose by only having the 101 sat? I only have a dual LNB and I don't subscribe to any premium channels.

Probably not much. Your local channels are beamed from the 101-deg satellite. You'll need the other satellites if you want DirecTV's international channels or HDTV channels.
