I was hoping somebody out here can help me out. I purchased a Directv TiVo HD10-250 about 16 months ago for around $400-$500 from Best Buy. It is now locked up and it wont reboot, restart, or anything. Coincedently enough, my buddy has the same receiver and his is doing the same thing. Is anybody else having these same issues.

Directv is not willing to swap out my DVR unless I lease a new one from them, recommit for 2 years, I have to send them the one that I own, and they own the one that they will ship to me. I feel like this is not fair. I pay them about $130 per month and was looking for some guidance. I dont want to gt Comcast but if they dont fix this, I will make the move!

ANy suggestions?

Thank you,
Brian

try unplugging the power cord and reinserting the power cord if you haven't already done this.

Yeah I have tread unplugging it, removing the access card, checked the internal temp, ver. of software, tried to delete all/re-install on Directv's suggestion, and it could not do it.
I was experiencing frozen pic's, pixelation issues, frozen remote/RC'vr. All signs to me that I have a serious technical issue with the HD10-250.

Thanks for the suggestion though

Did you purchase the HR10-250 on a major credit card? If so, and if you have your purchase receipt, most major credit cards double the original manufacturers warranty. If that original warranty was one-year, then the credit card company will cover a 2nd year, and you can file a claim for repair or replacement. Usually they end up sending a check for the original purchase price. But a copy of the original purchase receipt appears to be an absolute requirement. Perhaps this can be a solution for the OP.

It's most likely a bad hard drive, which if you've ever replaced a PC hard drive, is relatively straightforward to do. Google for 'Hinsdale Howto' for step by step instructions.

I don't understand your whining and why it's Directv's fault per se

Get the protection plan and you'll get your equipment taken care of with no additional committment and free svc calls

cheap too

What is an HD10-250?

Since he said it is a DirecTV HD TiVo, it has to be an HR10-250.

HD10-250 is apparently a typo error.

I think Arcady is the only one that didn't figure that out.

I figured it out fine. I'm just sick of people calling these things HD10-250's. You can even find them for sale on ebay with the wrong model number listed. How hard is it to look at the model number? It's on the front of the damn thing.

Thanks for being so hlepful DTV-PRO-ass. I was not whinining I was looking for some tips on getting it fixed or seeing what I can do with Directv. The customer service organization is horrible and not very helpful.

Also, so you can sleep at nightDTV-Pro-ASS, I will be sure to reference the HR10-250.

Maybe you should cut back on the caffeine intake a bit.
