I wanted to see if there was a consensus where most people put any additional hacks (tcl files) that you might install after the Zipper and the Enhancements script. I'd like to hear what some of you are doing and why you are putting files in particular directories. I'm tring to come up with the best place to put the few other tcl files I'd like to install. Thanks.

I keep everything in /hacks just for simplicity. The only rule I'd suggest is don't put things in /var, since /var can get wiped.

Some discussion on it here (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=3209685&highlight=store+hacks+var#post3209685).

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll put them in the "/hacks" directory since it's possible the "/var/hack" folder could get wiped with "/var". Unless of course, anyone is aware of a problem doing it that way.

You just have to make allowances for hacks that need writable access.
mfs_ftp is the biggie. I create a /var/hack/cache directory, and create a symlink called cache in /hacks/mfs_ftp that points to it. I also create a /var/log/port.3105.log and create a symlink to it as well.
The real slick way to do things is to use a dedicated hack partition, but I haven't gotten around to that.
