I want to add another Tivo at my parents house for when I'm home visiting. Can I simply add it to my account even though it's physically at a different place?

Tivos getting the multi-service discount have to be at the same household, IIRC.

Rename the thread - Is this stealing ?
When it makes the first phone call the computer system at TiVo will see it didn't call from the same household as the original unit and shut down the service on the unit at your parents place.

I've never heard of that happening Stanley.
The MSD discount is officially only for units at the same address. However, many people have units at vacation homes, the kids take one to college and back, etc, and all on the same account getting MSD. It doesn't look like TiVo does anything to enforce the rules, at least in most cases.
You have to decide if it is moral. If the TiVo is there for your use when you visit, I wouldn't have a problem doing that personally. But if the TiVo is for your parents to use all the time, then I wouldn't do that myself because I think that violates the spirit of the agreement.

TiVo could look at the Lineups for each TiVo on an account and shut down any set of TiVos that had different lineups, but that would cause too much customer problems as to vacation homes ETC. They may have a limit of how many different MSD lineups they will allow per account, so if somebody was running a business of renting TiVo service at say $8.95 a month on their account, when they are paying $6.95/month, TiVo could put that person out of business by their rules.
