Right up front I apologize for asking this question, but my situation seems to be somewhat unique, though it has probably been answered somewhere....

I have a HD tivo that is fed by a sat cable from the basement, (with no chance of new cable being run), so i want ot utilize the 2 sat input functionality of the tivo...

i have a 3 lnb dish that runs through a multi-switch in the basement to combine in the HD OTA, how do I "split" the one existing sat cable that feeds the tivo, i'm so confused about how many diplexers, multi-switches or a new one to me, "stackers" i need and in what order.....

any help is greatly appreciated

It's really pretty simple .....
The only way to feed your HD Tivo's second tuner is with another cable run back to the multiswitch. Your diplexers only work to combine and split the OTA antenna feed. You cannot use a stacker/destacker with the HiDef Tivo because they cannot "see" the three satellites required for all of the HiDef channels.

What you need is the sonora smart stacker.

brochure (www.sonoradesign.com/newpdfs/spec_ss212_7.pdf)

theres a thread on it in the hd tivo section here:

For the cost of extra equipment, are you absolutely sure there isn't some way to run the second cable from the dish. :)

Also notice, that the stacker part requires power. Where you get the power could be a problem.

you may want to view the thread just above this on mdu's (multiple dwelling units) and a special 5 LNB stacker.
