I got a tivo a couple months ago and love it. I want to upgrade to a larger HD but the wife is scared to let me...LOL. I built my home computer so I know bit about computers but it did take awhile to get everything working bug free so she is afraid I am going to some how screw up the tivo.....She loves it to and my life would be bad if some how I did mess it up. Since upgrading HD is not an option (yet) I have networked my Tivo, upgraded my second HD in my pc to a 300gig and downloaded all the shows we like to the PC HD. I also have purchased videoredo so I can edit. I have a DVD burner (that I use for burning cd's but have yet to burn a DVD) and would like to burn some of the shows I have edited onto DVD. What is ya'll favorite program for doing this. Nero came with my DVD burner but for some reason my system does not like nero, it will crash after installation, I have attempted to get Nero's help on this but to no avail. So what other DVD authoring software is out there that you all use?

If you can build a computer from scratch you most definately upgrade the TiVo drive. With software like InstantCake, it even takes out the coding so all you have to do is connect drives.

Man up and put your foot down! :)

I will eventually get my way and will put a larger HD in the Tivo, but I would really like input on what software others are using for burning their Tivo shows to DVD. I am guessing there are at least a few out there that are doing it. Ohhh and by the way my wife is 6.2... beautiful but she kinda scares me....LOL.... JK'n. I will man up when we get our second tivo for the bedroom then we have a back up unit while I am working on the other. :)

The latest version of Videoredo should allow you to save the .tivo file as .mpg so any burning software will work. Not sure you need anything special so it does indeed come down to features. I seldom burn DVDs so perhaps others will focus on your question and list the features that make them choose a particular program. bet you find a lot of Nero users on this forum though ;)

if you don't mind really, really simple menus, as in:
http://www.weethet.nl/images/tivo/tytools_menupreview.gif

check out tytool. you can find it via google, along with the how-to's. (pay no attention to the "extraction" section of the how-to's, just use your .mpg's as they do .ty's. it works with both)

It'll create dvd filesets ready to burn to disk with your favorite dvd writer software (nero, etc..).

and it's free.
