After a brief but windy storm today, I have lost a signal on one of the tuners of my hr10-250. I have 2 other D*tivo's and those are running fine. I switched the cables between the two tuners and I know it is coming from the cable back, not the dvr. I called support and he said often times, if a dish gets misaligned, it will only effect one receiver and the other two may appear fine. Sound right?? In any event, I have never lost a signal in two years through any storm and over the past 2 months, I have started to lose signal on the slightest rain, so I am thinking he is right and get a service call placed. He cannot schedule it any closer than two weeks out, so I am inquiring as to any information or techniques in attempting to reset or align the dish myself. Thanks.

So the problem moved from one tuner to another??

If you are having a dish alignment issue, it's going to affect ALL of your receivers, not just one. If the problem did move to another tuner, then you may have some moisture in the cables somewhere..or even a problem with your multi-switch or LNB..

If the problem didn't move with the cable, after swapping the cables...this should clear up everything..

Yes, thanks, the problem moved with the cables. I politely argued with the guy that the signal should have impacted all the tv's and he said no, it is a common thing. Strange...... but OK, set up the call. I will play with moving cables around the multiswitch and see if I have a cable or switch issue. In the meantime, didn't know if there was anything to guide me in manually realigning the tuner or will I muck it up more?

Sounds like one of your cables may have gotten water in to the connector or the connector is corroded. Make shure all your cable connections on the dish are tight and there is no water in the connectors.

I'd check signal strengths for all TPs on all satellites to see if only one sat is missing. I think that you could lose 110 or 119 if the dish shifted slightly leaving 101 okay (probably a slight loss of signal). Verify all three sats and polarities by tuning to chs 490-494.
