Hello,

I just purchased the new dual-tuner box from Tivo.com. I sold my old 80 hour unit on Amazon a few hours ago. My question is, what do I need to do on Tivo's website to cancel my old box when the new one comes in? I've had it for about a year and a half. Calling in to cancel it isn't an option, as I'm currently without phone service. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think you can cancel via the Web site. You need to call Tivo. Perhaps you could call from a friend's house?

Just go to the TiVo site and log on and go to the "manage my account" page. There you can change the service number on your account from the old unit to the new one.

OK, cool. I wasn't sure if that'd work or not. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you have to call to cancel service on the old box.

They want to ask - Why are you cancelling your service ?

He doesn't need to cancel his service. He can go online and have the service transferred to his new Tivo or he can call cs and transfer it the hard way. Doing it this way prevents being locked into a new 12 month commitment.

I can read. I did read the reply posted by Uncle Briggs.

Here's experience.
My GF bought a series2 DT a month or so ago. We couldn't find anything at tivo.com about transferring service from one box to another. She had to call tivo. They won't even let her transfer service from one box to the other that easily. She cancelled the service on one box and had to get transferred to another person to start a service agreement on the new box. Your experience may be different than that of ours. It didn't take to long. I won't exactly call it - the hard way to do it.
