Ok basically i currently have a S2 Tivo in the living room....i want to get a DT Tivo for my room...i want to know what would be the best/cheapest way of doing this? Add another tivo to my account? And if so, how much would that be per month?? etc. Thank you

go to a brick and mortar store - get one with the 150$ Mail in rebate and thus end up paying 99$ for the TiVo - then sign up for service and since you have one already at lifetime or 12.95 monthly or Bundle deal the DT will be only 6.95 a month for service

Actually, Right now you can get a brand new DT from Amazon.com for $229 plus the same $150 rebate - only $80 after rebate. Plus with Amazon, anything over $25 ships free.

not sure what you mean by card but any second TiVo you buy from the likes of Best Buy or Amazon will get the 6.95 monthly rate when you add it to your account.

so see what other deals are posted about in here and then go for the one that works the best for you.

enjoy - I have a DT and like it a lot.

edit - ah in between brainstorming new design (why I am up so late) I see what you meant. yes you can use multiple credit cards I think in manage your account. I have not done so myself so can not help with details

Same here.

I know people posted thread after thread of how the DT isn't a big deal, but to have all season passes for new and syndicated shows and scheduled movies and documentaries without a single conflict was a huge deal to me.

This week, CompUSA is offering the DT with an additional $50 gift card; if you don't get free shipping with Amazon and are in a low sales tax state, CompUSA may be cheaper.

The account I believe isn't tied to your Credit Card to allow for Multi Servics Discount. or MSD, the card might need to have the same Name or Address to allow MSD

This offer along with the rebate makes it a better overall deal - and puts you $50 ahead on the HDD upgrade right off the bat! ;)

Yes - you put in your credit card/expiration date for each Tivo. I know because I just had to update 4 of them and it's kinda a pain. But you could use different credit cards.

From what i have read, the $150 rebate is only good for a new account. Am i wrong in thinking that?

That is wrong. The 150$ rebate is for activating new service on a new box. You can have 10 TiVos on the account already.

Hmm.. I might have to use my 12% coupon at best buy on a DT tivo...

nice. With that you get the TiVo for 219.12 (plus taxes) and then after 150$ rebate you end up with a DT for 69.12. Nice price

I'm curious how long your 12% discount works, I might consider waiting to see if the S3 drops...

It is a reward zone coupon. Use your reward zone coupon and get 12% off one item.
It is good until the end of July.

Unless you live in an area with very low sales tax, Amazon's price is likely to be lower than the Best Buy's 12% discount. There is another 1.57% A9 discount for Amazon.

Looks like both Best Buy and Circuit City have additional rebates that make an 80 hour single tuner Tivo free after rebates through Saturday.

Right, but for about $80 more that that you can get a DT from Amazon (After rebate).

Seems like a simple decision to me.

I think I got the best deal of all, so far. I used a 10% off coupon from Circuit City to get the DT for $224.99. I then went back today with a printout from the CompUSA website showing that they are giving a $50 gift card with the purchase of the DT. Circuit City took off another $50 and handed me a gift card for $52.50. Bottom line price $224.99 - $52.50 gift card - $150.00 rebate = a whopping $22.49!

Editing to correct a small oversight.......total with tax was $33.74.

I think I'd go with Amazon ($76.38 for me after a9 discount and rebate) over CompUSA ($70.61 for me after tax & minus 2 rebates) - just because you're locked into fighting for a $50 gift card you HAVE to use at CompUSA.

The amazon DT deal is good but it can be better. If you sign up for the amazone-visa credit card, you get $40 off your first purchase (credit on your first statement) that would make it 229-150-40=$40 I think this is the one for me. Simply keep the card open til you get your rebate ( 0% financing for 6 months). Once you get the rebate pay off the bill and cancel the card. Done deal!!!!!!!!!!

Here's one for a DT:

http://www.buy.com/prod/TiVo_TCD649080_Series2_Digital_Video_Recorder_Up_to_80_Hours _Capacity/q/loc/111/202456903.html

$74.66 shipped after $150 rebate.

If you're a new customer you can qualify for a $15 off $200 coupon which would bring it down to $59.66.

http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=88301879&adid=17662

I have a Buy.com Visa and used a $10 off $50 coupon to get one for $64.66 shipped.

Wow, that sounds like a really good deal.

I used to have Direct TV but we moved and we got charter DVR (SA 8000). I hate it. It's not a bad service, it just isn't as good as Direct TV.

I'm glad they came out with a dual tuner TIVO, that was the only thing that was keeping me from buying one.

I was wondering, how much would the monthly charge be for a new user?

Depends how you buy the service:

If bundled with a box from Tivo, from $16.95 to $19.95 per month (for both)

If you buy the box from a retailer, the service is $12.95 per month.

Havent posted here or even browsed here since losing my DirecTV (moved to an apt complex facing the wrong way) but just wanted to say thanks for the links in this thread. Probably going to get a standalone sometime soon, and they were helpful.
