Frozen up
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just torn on Tivo DT2 after about an hour of watching it earlier.
It's frozen in "Now Playing".
Can't do anything with the remote except turn it off or change TV Input.
What next?
Will I be able to recover my alreadt taped programs?

Pull the plug.
Count to 30.
Plug it back in.
This is known as "rebooting the TiVo", and fixes most problems.
Let us know if it fixes your particular one.

.... and have no fear, rebooting your Tivo will not erase any of your recordings or other settings.

I have had this freezing problem 3 times in the past week. In each case I did the reboot and everything seemed to be normal. Is this repitition an indicaion that the HD is failing and I need to get going on that?

Freezing could be indication of a HD failure. If this box can be exchanged I would do so now.
Freezing either HD related or not is not normal. It could be a heat issue or something else defective inside the unit.

All is well. After I posted, the screen changed and I got a message that something was in process. Another minute or two and it was back to normal.
TiVo must have been doing something, I guess.
BTW, my boxed in owned and I got it about a month ago.
Thanks for the posts.
