View Full Version : Tivo Error code - Error #32

The 7.3 update found its way to our Series 2 Humax DVD-R Tivo last week and fortunately the list of bugs that now plague us are pretty minor so far. One of the most vexing things that is happening is the recurrence of this error message:
An internal error occurred.
An error occurred while getting data for the selected program.
Error code: Error #32
It seems to happen mostly when I am in Recording History and use the left arrow to get back to the history list or to back out of program into for a program that won't be recorded. From there it kicks me back to the main TiVo central menu when I hit Select to Continue, which is my only option.
I did a google and forum search but didn't come up with any useful info about this error (a few posts from 2003 but with questions only and no resolutions) and whether I should be worried about it or if I should just ignore it and wait for the next software update to fix it.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Wow - an error no one has ever heard of? Or is the lack of interest due to the holiday?

More like due to the holiday
it is mentioned in this post (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=4133108&&#post4133108)

I got this error while talking with a TiVO rep on the phone. I was told that I should nbever use the back arrow to go back through the screens. I was told only to use the TiVO button and start from the beginning again. It appeared to be a known issue. The reponse I received seemed inappropriate, however.

Wow! If they would not want us to use left arrow, they would have remove the code. I think it is in the 7.3.1 bug list, but it was never an issue before. Left arrow is a great way to return to where you were last. Don't be shy to use it. I would expect it to be corrected in the next release.

Interesting. So basically what they are saying is that I've been doing it wrong for 5+ years and TiVo has been letting me do it wrong for 5+ years and now that it only works the "wrong" way half the time, I should switch to the "right" but far less intuitive and instinctual way of doing it.
Good to know that the error isn't indicative of a drive failing or some other more inconvenient problem though.
Our Series 1 never gave us a lick of trouble but our Series 2 has been fraught with aggravation (namely the sluggish remote and now the bevy of bugs introduced with 7.3). We only suffer through it because we can't imagine life without it and we have high hopes for Series 3. Out 42-inch Plasma is begging for HD but when it came down to choosing between Time Warner HD DVR and sticking it out with TiVo, we stuck with TiVo (DirecTiVo not an option in our NYC co-op apartment).
Save us, Series 3... save us!

Hmm...I've been using the 'back' button all this time (2 years) and never know I wasn't 'supposed to' use it.
Now, on the Tivo that got the dreaded 7.3 update, I get that 32 error all the time too. It is so natural to use the 'back' button that I can't seem to break the habit.
Same goes for the 'stop' button on my Toshiba. I REALLY REALLY hope they get that fixed!

I just requested "priority" for the 7.3.1 update. I'll let you know if that resolves this and other issues when I receive the update in the next day or two.
