Okay, I've read the Zipper how-to guide (http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html) a few times over and have some questions before I dive into it:

1. Was wondering if I could backup my original 250GB HD on to my WinXP Pro SP2 NTFS drive by using Partition Magic to create a FAT32 partition for backing up my Tivo's drive. How large does the partition have to be?

2. If I'm only going to zipper my original drive, do I still need the InstantCake 3.1.5f image on my Tools CD or can I skip that alltogether? It would save me $20 :)

3. My primary goal for Zippering is that I would like to archive my HD recordings on to my PC. Is the Zipper the best way to do it?

Thanks in advance for those who reply.

1. Partion Magic will work fine (I love PM). The size depends on if you are going to backup recordings. If not, 1 gig should do it, just to be save.

2. Skip instantcake.

3. Yes! Then check out mfs_ftp on DDB.
