Every couple of days I have to disconnect and then reconnect my netgear wirlesss router in order to connect to program updates or tivo desktop. If I do not do this the tivo will say connection failed dhcp not found; sometimes it will also say gateway not found and anything related to my computer network does not work, except I do have the ability to transfer programs between my two tivo units

I have zonealarm and mcafee virus scan. In the zonealarm options I have checked accept to anything related to the tivo (tivo beacon service, tivo desktop, tivo server, tivo transfer service and I checked ask for tivoautoupdate.exe).
Is there anyway to get the network to work on a daily basis without having to disconnect and reconnect the router or disable the firewall?

A lot of folks have had better luck using fixed IP.

I had this same problem with my old 802.11b router, shortly after I did a firmware upgrade (wanted to add MAC filtering...). I ended up replacing it with a new one that was on sale. It cost me $25 but also upgraded me to 802.11g from my old 802.11b unit so I wasn't too upset.

It solved the problem.

Thanks for the responses. I think I might have to get a new router as well. I currently have a netgear b router. I cant even enable file sharing between computers on my network now. oh well. Well a G router increase the transfer speed between two tivos. It currently takes over an hour to transfer a one hour show from my main tivo to my second tivo.
