Is it possible to connect a home computer to Tivo and burn the program you recorded to cd or dvd? If so what equipment is required?

It depends on what kind of TiVo you have. If you have a Series 2, non-DirecTV integrated model, the answer is yes. See TiVoToGo (http://www.tivo.com/4.9.4.1.asp)
