Simple: asking for someone else to give you a referral in return for you giving them a referal.
Referal are supposed to only to given for people you have convinced to purchase a Tivo.

Ok so does that mean I can't say like give someone a 3 month gift sub for their referral... I mean I'm still giving them something but not a referral from me... so would that still be considered trading referrals... I'm looking to rack up 5 - 6 referrals to get 25 - 30k points so I can get some stuff and by offering 3 month subs for referrals im actualy saving money... anyway if this would be ok in the sense of doin this I'm all for giving people 3 month subs for their referrals so i can get the points... but I'm not looking to deal with more than 5 - 6 people as I only need 25 - 30k referral points... hope al this makes sense as I tried to explain it best I could... I've never been to big on describing things good , lol...

No it is not ok to "pay" someone for referrals. Here is a paragraph from the Terms and Conditions (I put the relevant part in bold). Out of curiosity, who would you give 3 month subs. to? eBay? or people you already know?
2. The awarding and redemption of TiVo Rewards points are void where prohibited by law. The accumulation of points is subject to these Terms. Points accrued under TiVo Rewards do not constitute property, do not entitle a member to a vested right or interest and have no cash value. As such, TiVo Rewards points are not redeemable for cash, transferable, or assignable for any reason. The sale, solicitation, trade or other trafficking in TiVo Rewards points or referrals is strictly prohibited. The value of TiVo Reward points and the availability of rewards available for redemption are subject to change at any time, without notice.

I had heard somewhere that TiVo monitors eBay for this type of activity. About a year ago, there were plenty of TiVo Referral listings. I just checked eBay today by doing a search for "TiVo Referral" and there are no listings. I guess TiVo monitors the eBay site and somehow removes the listings.
