9 times out of 10, I can't access TivoWebPlus without rebooting my hacked Tivo.
I do want to mention that I shut down my computer when I don't use it and I put my tivo in standby mode when I'm not watching.
With that in mind, would this be normal to have to "re-establish" a connection by rebooting the tivo?

Nope -- pretty much never happens to me.
What model Tivo / version Tivo software / version TivoWebPlus? What type of connection do you have set up to your Tivo? What happens when you try to access TWP but cannot?

MODIFIED DSR 704
VERSION 6.2-01.2.321
TIVOWEBPLUS VERSION 1.2.1
HARDWIRED TO ROUTER VIA USB/ETHERNET ADAPTER
Case and point...fired up wireless laptop to access TWP for version, defaults to search engine page looking for anything with my IP address...like it does'nt exist. Reboot the tivo.....bingo! comes right up to main menu! It happens this way on my desktop PC that's directly connected to the router also. I can even still access TWP right after I put the Tivo in Standby so it must lose the connection after it's been a while...so what do you think? Also, I've never set the IP address in net config in TWP. Might that have something to do with it?

The problem with buying a pre-hacked unit is that neither we nor you have any idea what's been done to it.
Can you still ping the Tivo after TWP dies?

Cheer,
Thanks for putting up with a learning situation. As of right now, This machine is making me look dumb and accessing TWP whenever I type in the IP! I know it will happen again so let's say it's dead and I attempt to ping it. What should I look for? I have pinged the tivo from both my desktop and laptop and it looks like both were successful sending packets then receiving so....when TWP dies again what do I look for?

right now its actually working so it says "accepting connections"
What should I be looking for if TWP dies again?

OK. If TWP dies and if you can still successfully ping the IP of your Tivo (you'll see successful replies), then we've eliminated a network problem.
Next, telnet into your Tivo. Turn logging on in your telnet client, then do this:tail -100 /var/log/tivoweb.log
ps ax
This will either (A) give us the log from TWP as well as a list of current running processes, or (B) fail, telling us that telnet isn't working either and we have a different problem. :)

OK, I just telneted and it ran a log under both lines. It's the damndest (sp?) thing...I've tried turning the computer off, putting the tivo in standby, rebooting the computer.....TWP comes uo each time! It's like when you take the car in for service and it doesn't act up while the tech is looking at it! Keep a look out for this post and I'll let you know!!
Thanks for the info!

Guys,
Woke up this morning and tried bringing up TWP....nothing! Successfully pinged the tivo, ran telnet and got both logs like before....with one difference. Instead of the tivoweb.log saying "accepting connections" it says "web server terminated" at the end of it . Suggestions?
