I was going to buy a third TiVo today until I saw that you can no longer buy a lifetime subscription. Sorry, but the cable company can give me a DVR that can record and display HD and it costs the same if not less than TiVo now. This is such a shame. I was a champion of the company until today.

This change actually happened a few months ago. You can still find Tivos with Lifetime subscriptions on eBay if it's that important for you.

Lifetime is also available for new activations on the Humax DRT-400 and DRT-800 due to contractual obligations between Tivo and Humax. You have to call Tivo to activate, not available on the website.

You realize that that third box would only be charged $6.95 per month, right?

And tivo offers you so much more and better software than your cable company :)

Sorry, but the cable company can give me a DVR .....

Where do you get your cable from? Comcast here charge $9.95 per month for a DVR which by my reconning is $3 per month more than an additional TiVo will cost you.
