Maybe this is something I am overlooking totally....

But I have 2.3 now and downloaded and added the PLUS key...

Under Preferences I set the Convert to Treo 650 which I want to load with converted shows....

The tivo shows I keep on D drive as far as the folders for Tivo recordings... the other listing there for converted recordings appears to be hard wired to my C drive....

In any case.. after I download a recorded show from Tivo, HOW do I convert it to use with Tro 650? I have it set to prepare for Treo but dont see ANy way to convert existing files (or downloaded ones) after they come over to the PC....

Sorry if this is basic.. there is no help file up yet.

Can someone help tell me how to convert the files?

Thanks!

Mike

I'm having the same problem. I notice that the TiVo Desktop Plus program converts files on its own, and you can observe how far along it is in your Windows taskbar. Just hover your mouse over the TiVo icon that looks like it's doing something. I let it convert one of my shows, then copied the completed .mp4 file to my Treo 650's 2 GB SD card.

Now my problem is that the Kinoma player they told us to buy for $20 can't see those files. Curiously, another video program I have on the Treo can see it and even play it, but it tells me that the AAC audio has been blocked for "intellectual property reasons." That tells me that the Desktop is not correctly converting these files yet in a way that allows them to be played.

If anyone knows how I can get the converted files to play, please e-mail me and also post a reply here.

The file you may need is hosted here(scroll about a third of the way down the page):
http://www.rarewares.org/aac.html
BetaPlayer AAC plugin 2005-08-02
AAC input plugin based on FAAD2 for BetaPlayer/The Core Pocket Media Player tested to work on version 0.66
PalmOS version (136Kb) - Windows Mobile version (1092Kb)
I don't have a video-capable palm device, but my Sprint PPC-6700 plays these files just fine using the Windows Mobile TCPMP and AAC audio plugin. I'm sorry I can't help with the Kinoma player.

So what you are saying is ONLY AFTER an item transfers from Tivo to the Tivo Desktop will it convert.. on the compkletion of that transfer? I tried transferring but cancelled the transfer midpoint because I could not wait at the time..

So if you let it go, it will convert at the end?

And I suppose there is no way to move that folder where it converts to from the C drive for some reason....

As for the Treo, I have Kinoma 3.1.1 and will try later today to see if ti will play on my 2 GB SD card as welll...

That did it! Gonzotech, thanks for the tip on the TCPMP AAC plugin. Mike, you may want to give this a try. You will first need to download the free TCPMP player. Go to mytreo dot net and search there and you should be able to find it pretty quickly.
