View Full Version : Cannot install 2.3 Plus after uninstalling regular 2.3!!

I had the free 2.3 TIVO desktop installed, then I upgraded to the 2.3 plus version. I have uninstalled the free 2.3 version. When installing the plus version I get an error message that there is already a newer version installed and the installer quits.
Help!

Did you try installing the regular 2.3, and then the 2.3 plus (without un-installing the regualr)? Perhaps the "plus" version is simply an add on to the regular and needs it installed. Just guessing here.

Looks like the link from the Plus Key ordering page is sending out the wrong version. We are updating it now. If you go directly to www.tivo.com/desktop you'll be able to load the proper version.

Just an FYI but you can actually upgrade from the "free" version to the "plus" version. There is no need to uninstall and reinstall. They're basically the same thing the "plus" version just unlocks the added codecs and menu options for converting.

How come you can not change the lcoation of the Tivo transfer to Portable device folder?
And is there a way to force a transgfer on content that is already on the PC from the tivo?

It looks like the path was hard coded into the transcode program. (I couldn't find any reference to the portables folder in registry) Kind of bad form from a programming stand point. Maybe they were just short on time and had to get it out before they could fix this. Hopefully there will be some sort of maintainence release that fixes this as it seems like quite a big oversight.

I upgraded to TIVODESKTOPPLUS and my confirmation e-mail seems to have omitted my license key, unless I am totally blind I cannot see it. When I look it up from the site I get a blank page! If anyone can tell me where to find this key on the confirmation e-mail I would appreciate it. Or how to contact them as they do not seem to have a telephone #.
