View Full Version : TNT HD not part of HD Package?

I signed up for the HD Package back in January when I got my HR10-250. They offered me 6 months free, so I figured what the heck. I got the HR10 to record my local over the air HD channels - the HD sat channels for free were just a bonus.
My free preview of the HD Package was about to expire (and I never really watched any of the channels), so I went to the DirecTV website last night and removed the HD Package from my account. I checked my HR10 and sure enough, ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD were not working. However, TNT HD was still on. I tried all of the other HD channels and they were all disabled as expected. I thought maybe it would take some time to update everything so I waited until tonight. I still have TNT HD without the HD Package.
Is this something that is specific to TNT HD? Has DirecTV decided to give it to all subscribers regardless of the HD Package? Note that I also downgraded to the Total Choice Family Package back in April when it finally became available. I am only paying 34.99 + 5.99 DVR + 4.99 mirror.
I was actually kind of excited that TNT HD was still there. That was really the only channel that I was watching in the HD Package - watching my Phoenix Suns in the playoffs this year in HD was awesome.
Just thought I would let others know that it seems that TNT HD is not really a part of the HD Package even though it has been advertised that way. Or maybe this is just an oversight on their part since they launched TNT HD after the HD Package was set up in their system. Maybe no one thought to go back and make it a part of the group so that it gets removed when the HD package is removed from your account.

Check your channel profile, make sure you have it on.

If you subscribe to HBO, you get HBO HD regardless of having the HD package,
same with Showtime and SHO HD, so maybe they're doing the same with TNT HD?

Unfortunately not. TNT HD is only available with the extra cost HD package.
Keep in mind, much of the TNT HD fare is simply stretched SD.

I don't subscribe to the HD Package, and yet I am getting TNT HD. Therefore, it would appear that it is available without the HD package. I don't have the regular TNT channel either, because I subscribe to the Family package. So it's not like they are throwing it in because I am paying for TNT. For some reason, it seems this channel is passed through regardless of what package you have.
So, my question again is, why am I getting this channel?
Whether or not you think TNT HD is worth it, thanks for the input, but that's not my question. I hardly ever watch it, but it was nice to have sports in HD (NBA playoffs). Other than that, I really don't watch it and it's nice to have if there happens to be something on in HD that I want to watch. At this point, it is "free" for me.

According to their website, TNT HD is considered part of the HD Programming Package.
You could always log into your account online and look at it, it might actually have
something in there.

Well, my wife watches Cold Case in HD on TNT-HD. (And it was there that the snippet of hard-core porn appeared a couple of months back.)

It must be a mistake. TNT HD is included as part of the HD package so if you don't have the package you are getting TNT HD in error.

I'm in the same boat.
I had the HD package before TNT-HD was added, cancelled the package a few weeks back, and I still get TNT-HD.

Thank you for letting us know that you are erroneously receiving TNTHD free of charge. We have noted it on your account and will be shutting it off within 24 hours.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Sincerely,

Sir_whinealot - LOL - thanks - I was waiting for someone to post that. :)
I really don't care if it goes away - I just found it interesting that it still showed up and was wondering if anyone here knew why it was still showing up.

Yes - I do and this unit has always been hooked up.
I'll see if a phone call changes anything, but I don't think it will considering others have this channel as well without the HD package.

"Buggin' With Rudd" baybee!!!
That in-and-of-itself is worth the price of the HD pkg!
