Several times recently, with my HR10-250, when recording programs that end at odd times such as NASCAR races or the recent NBA playoffs, the unit stops recording before the end of the program. This
happens if I program the TIVO to automatically record or if I press record while the program is in progress.

This is the ONLY glitch I've found in this unit. I can't remember adding a component to my home theater system that surpasses expectations like the HD TIVO. Now, if someone can tell me how to fix the problem described above, it will be perfect!!

Now, if I could only transfer HD recordings to my JVC DVHS deck or computer for viewing later.

I have a similar problem where the recording STARTS 1-3 minutes LATE. Nothing else is being recorded so it's not a conflict issue. You can tell when you start playing the recording that the playback bar starts at 2 or 3 minutes in from the beginning. Totally random.

Have you padded both your start and end times by a minute or two on either side? Makes all the difference in the world.

There is no way for the TiVo to know that a live sporting event is not going to end on time.

Recording with a Season Pass, Wishlist, or manually pushing the record button,
the original info the TiVo has says it will start and end at a specific time,
so the recording is going to start and end at those times.
(unless you push the record button, then it will start when you push it)

The only way to make sure you get the entire program from start to finish,
is start the recording a little early, and pad it at the end, often an hour longer than it's supposed to run, depending on the sport.

Same thing if you are recording a program that begins once a Live sporting event has ended,
pad it at the end as well.

TiVo is smart, just not that smart.

I've learned that there are a couple networks that must not have a clock anywhere in the building,
I won't mention FX's or SpikeTV's name.
Everything recorded from these two unnamed networks gets a 2 minute prestart, and a 15 minute pad,
and there's been more than a couple times that 15 minutes wasn't enough, although Nascar aired previously and went a wee bit long.

It sounds like you are asking about sporting events and theoretically most sporting events you don't know when they end and the TiVo cannot know also. As suggested earlier just give it a good pad and you should be set. I wish my problem was this small. My unit is awesome except for the continued late starts that are irritating me. I need to find a different solution by fall when Grey's Anatomy comes back on or my wife will kill me.

Thanks for the info! The only problem with padding the end times is if you are recording two programs at once--like on Monday nights when "24", Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives are all on and the overlap will not allow recording them all. To record them all, there can be no padding.

I hate to resort to my VCR's, since the above are all HD and the HD TIVO has spoiled me.
