The installer just left my house, I am using the HDMI cable from the receiver into a Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVI, then HDMI into the TV. Originally the installer had the tv aspect ratio set to 4:3. so I was changing it to 16:9 and as soon as I hit enter, the screen turned green and stayed green. I had to disconnect the HDMI and hook up component cablesto get back to a normal screen. After I had a picture( an actual tv show) I reconnected the HDMI cable and all was well again.

Any idea what the heck that was?

Probably lost HDCP handshake. Odd things can happen with HDMI when the signal is "disturbed", especially when passed through another component.

I agree. I frequently lose the picture when changing modes. A quick cycle through the inputs is all it takes to get it back..In your case, it would really depend on your television and the additional components in the signal chain.

Just to give you an example - when I hooked up my HR10 through my new STR-AV7100ES to the KDS-R60XBR1 by HDMI, I got no picture, except for brief flashes. If I connected the TiVo to the TV directly it was fine. Same thing with a DVD player. Must be the receiver, right? So I had Crutchfield replace the receiver. Same problem. Then Sony sent me a new receiver to test. Same problem. A Sony district manager came out to verify the problem, and then they sent a tech out from San Diego (really!).

Turned out to be the TV - it was not properly processing the relayed HDMI signal. Sony replaced the TV and it was fine. But even now, if I do things like switch inputs on the TV, sometimes I have to turn the receiver off and on to re-sync it.

Well now I went to watch a movie from the DVD player and had another problem. I had the DVD hooked up to the receiver through Component, and as previously stated, the receiver to the TV through HDMI. I got a constant flicker on the bottom third of the screen. As soon as I went to a component direct to the TV, flicker is gone.

Darn HDMI:(

Thanks for the input
