I've had the problem a few times. I'm not sure what causes it. It last happened right in the middle of the Tivo's recording of the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. My wife was none too pleased!

Lot's of folks (including me) have this problem. It's been a problem for a long time. A reeboot is the only fix.

Rebooting isn't a fix, it comes back. This is a bug and D* are incompetent enough they can't get it fixed. They may not even know its a problem, if you mention this to a tech, they start diagnosing a signal problem, because thats what their script tells them. Its very difficult to get through to them that this is a bug that needs to be fixed.
This is the primary reason I'll be getting an S3 when they're available.
The bug tends to get worse and worse over time, the period between it falling over gets shorter and shorter, when its less than a day it gets untenable. Doing a clear and delete holds the bug back for a while. You can do the one which doesn't clear your programs.

I have been told the problem is:
1. Bad LNB
2. Bad multiswitch
3. Bad receiver
4. Reboot doesnt fix it
5. unplugging doesnt fix it
6. switching satellite feeds 1/2 and flipping doesnt fix it
7. cart wheels, praying to the directv gods still doesnt work
Seems to happen intermiddent on my end. MOSTLY, usually the problem is dropping SAT HI-DEF channels on the 110 bird. Basically 70-89.
Still unknown what the problem is, I cannot duplicate it. I have BYPASSED my multiswitch, still nothing. I have the PHASE III dish with the integrated 4-way multiswitch feeding a TERK MS58, with OTA locals.
Still puzzled, and since we get 340 days of blue skys, I know it's not rain-fade or some "BS" global warning that the tree-huggers seem to think.
It's Phoenix, AZ, it's 110 now, and no rain. Blue skys, CLEAR view PERFECT.

Still unknown what the problem is,Its a software bug. The tuners get disabled for some unknown reason. That's what someone has to be looking at, all the other stuff is red herrings. You can see that the tuners become disabled by looking in the system information screen.

What ever the reason is, I wish they'd get off their dead dumb asses and fix it.
I'll quote my wife and I'll have to agree with her...
"When you pay $80/month total for service, the channels should work, and the damn Tivo should not just reboot when you hit the tivo button. This is just damn rediculas.."
