Any news of when Tivo Desktop 2.3 will be available? Also, what new features might it have in store for us?

No news on when it'll be released.

As for what features it'll have... The ones shown at CES were an auto transfer feature that could automatically transfer shows of a given name and a feature which can convert .tivo programs to iPod or PSP format. However I believe that second feature was going to require you to pay for an upgraded version. So if you're only looking for free stuff, then the only change will probably be the auto transfer thing.

Really? the ipod or psp version will require you to pay for it?

Count me out, i'll stick w/ videora and videoredo so i can cut out commercials.

If you pay for it, they should have a thing where you can cut stuff out yourself.

I think it's going to cost because there is a license fee for anything that can convert to MPEG4 format. I believe it's about $4 each for the MPEG4 encoding, AAC audio encoding and multiplexing. So every copy with this ability is going to cost TiVo about $12.

In fact, since Videora does not require registration, they can't possibly be reporting users to the MPEG LA, so it's technically illegal.

It's free, with a ~$25 upgrade fee to add support for MPEG4 (iPod, PSP, etc)
