I am a newbie so to speak and have TiVo at home (not exactly sure of model) but it's fairly new and has 4 USB ports on the front-
I am recording a TV Friday and want to copy it onto a thumb drive to save it-
Can I do that and then view on a laptop??
I also have wireless in my house and was wondering if I can hook the Tivo up to the wireless??

You can not connect it directly to the thumb drive. However you can connect it to a wireless network and copy programs to your laptop that way.
First you need a wireless USB adapter...

Then you need to install Tivo Desktop on your laptop...

After that simply launch TiVo Desktop on the laptop and pick the recording(s) you want to transfer to the laptop.
Note: Inorder to actually play the TiVo files you'll need an MPEG-2 codec installed on your laptop. These typically come standard with DVD playback software, so if you have a DVD player then you should be fine. However if you don't you'll need to purchase a codec to get it to work...

Also note that most thumb drives are really not big enough to store video. You need to have gigabytes of free space on the hard drive to store much video. A half hour program at medium will take about a gigabyte.

Basic show for 30 min is about 380 meg, so that would work
