I have a Linux box that I'd like to use to upgrade my TiVo's hard drive capacity. Seems like all the how-to guides that I've been able to find talk about booting from a CD-ROM or floppy into Linux. They are also written like recipes vs. talking about the general logic about how the upgrade should be done. This makes them prone to error when porting them over to a different configuration like mine.
Two questions. Is there any how-to guide that gives a more logical approach to the upgrade process? If not, then is there some mechanistic guide that talks about using a Linux boot from a hard drive?
If the answers are No and No, then I'll print out the various instructions, sit down, and try to figure the basic logic of what is going on vs. trying to follow the steps blindly. If I am successful, I'll post what I learn.
Also, it seems hard to believe that some enterprising programmer hasn't put a GUI on the various tools you need.
