Hi all.
First of all I apologise in advance if this question has already been asked. I did search but I couldn't find an answer....so to my question.
If I cancel my current pay monthly TiVo subscription (but keep the box) could I restart a few months later or do I lose it forever once cancelled?
The reason is I am seriously considering moving to Sky+/HD to replace my current ntl TV packages and aging TiVo. As such with the Sky+ PVR service (I know it's not quite as good as TiVo :( but at least it's still evolving and improving in the UK :o ), the TiVo rapidly becomes surplus to requirements. I'm not completely convinced that Sky+ will be ok so I'd like the option to go back to TiVo.
Thanks in advance.

No problem. You can cancel/resume whenever you like.
However, having seen the user interface for $ky+ I'd suggest holding off cancelling your TiVo sub until you've tried $ky+ for a few days.... :D:D

Hmm. It does sound as if people are having the same issues I had with Sky + that I ditched about 2 years ago.

Thanks for the info Blindlemon. I'll certainly keep my TiVo for a month or so until I see if Sky+ is close enough to a quality PVR ala TiVo. ;)
As I said the Sky+ can only get better or at least continue evolving....unfortunately the same can't be said of TiVo outside of the US.
It's a shame that they never worked out a long term arrangement here. Perhaps they might find a way to integrate with the planned Freeview branded PVR service/devices.... but that just a vain hope or perhaps the start of yet another baseless rumour :(

I know it has some problems - missing programs, etc - but I get those on my TiVo as well.
To be honest probably the most important feature is some kind of Season Pass (or Series Link, in Sky+ speak) - "fire and forget" record function for my prized and not so prized tv programs is invaluable!! So long as I can get somewhere near the comprehensive coverage for programmes that I get from TiVo, I can tolerate the other shortcomings on the basis that at least with Sky+ there's a serious chance that they might be fixed. Differences in UI and user experience are less important to me since I'm happy to accept that learning a new way to do things is the price of new service or innovation.....anyway enough of my pontificating.
I'm still looking hard at the Sky+ and have to really look into the quality of the service now and planned compared to the TiVo static european platform. It's a major credit to TiVo that even with such an old platform/system they are still a serious competitor to Sky+!
and btw I forgot to say thanks for your comments and feedback - Thanks!!

Well finally moved to Sky+HD.
Decommissioned the old TiVo and switched to Sky+ and despite the shortcomings compared to TiVo I can't see myself switching back to TiVo unless it re-enters the UK market.
Have to say (my) Sky+ is quite impressive so far. I had the TiVo running side-by-side for a while to do comparisons.
I'll probably pop in to the forum every now and then just in case something interesting happens in the TiVo-verse...but other than that it's been fun.

Biggest problem I found with restarting my sub is the support guy refused point blank to use the same direct debit details, claiming the system required him to enter new ones when restarting a sub. Luckily I had a spare account I could use.
Sky+ looks impressive until the first time half your series links disappear for no apparent reason and you have to re-enter them all (I coped with Sky+ for about 8 months - and this must have happened over a dozen times over that time. The last straw was christmas where it deleted nearly all of them because of the weeks break in the programming). Sky+ is definately not fire and forget - it needs careful monitoring.
