View Full Version : Initiate TivoBack transfer from PC side?

So all of my experiences so far with TivoBack, and everything I have read, indicate that the only way to start the transfer is to make the request from the Tivo, then it goes and grabs the show off of your TivoServer.

Well, sometimes, I'm here at work and I want to be able to transfer something to my Tivo so I can watch it when I get home and not have to worry about transfer issues and whatnot. I can use Remote Desktop to get to my machine running TivoServer, but obviously, I can't get to the Tivo itself to initiate the transfer.

So I ask, is there a way to "push" the show to the Tivo from the PC in a situation where I physically can't get to the Tivo? Does the undocumented web-browser-accessible Now Playing list allow access to the PC folder?

Nope.

The only way to do this would be to use a Slingbox to access the TiVo itself via the internet and pull the recording over.

Yeah, thought of that, but $150 to solve a comparitively minor problem is more than I want to pay. :)

Shoot. That's too bad. It would rule if I could handle those TivoBacks while I'm at work and have all the time in the world to let my home network make the transfer. Maybe it will get better if I replace my wireless adapter I have plugged into it (one of those crummy D-Links) with the Tivo-branded one, which by all reports seems to work much better...

There might be a way to do this with a hack. But you'd have to check the underground for that.
