Is the NFL network on D* broadcast in HD? I just saw the link to a press release showing that Dish will have NFL network in HD, so I was curious about D*.
It would seem foolish to not offer it in HD, especially when they have the game of the week and then force D* subscirbers to watch in SD.
Thanks

D* carries NFL Game of the Week in HD on a channel in the 90's. As far as full-time NFL Network in HD, I can't answer that question. I wasn't aware that NFL Network was a full-time HD network.

Yes, E* already has it. I haven't seen anything on it in HD yet. Everything is 4:3 SD with gray sidebars.
I think there will be some live games on NFL-HD and I'm sure D* will have them at least for ST/SF subs. D* has not announced a dedicated HD channel yet.

Many cable companies and satellite companies have offered select HD games via NFL Network on a special event channel or on InHD2 and such. Now that NFL Network has a fulltime 24x7 HD channel many cable and satellite companies are adding this fulltime network. I know Comcast will soon be adding the fulltime NFL Network HD feed. I believe Dish Network and DirecTV either have today or will have very soon the fulltime HD channel as well. Verizon I know for sure without a doubt has the fulltime HD feed of NFL Network.
Also keep in mind that all of the 8 live NFL games they will do this year will be in HDTV. Also of note that NFL Network will be showing a 90 minute version of 4 games each and every week but they will pick those 4 games. They will be shown within the next few days after the games are played. They will cut out all the ads, halftime show and just a couple of plays that mean nothing but they will focus on showing pretty much every play in the game. They will also get rid of most of the time between each play as well. I've also been told that if your cable company has NFL Network On Demand these games will be offered on the On Demand channel.
I've also been told that whatever games they pick will be shown in HDTV if the game itself was also broadcast in HDTV. Also for cable companies who have the hardware to offer HDTV On Demand I also hear that these companies will also offer any of the games offered in HDTV by NFL Network in HDTV on NFL Network On Demand under what will be their new HDTV section.
The plan by NFL Network is to next year show all Sunday afternoon NFL games in this format each week and also offer all games broadcast in HDTV in HDTV too.

WOW!
I am thinking that D* cant be all that happy that the NFL network will be showing all the games over the course of the week. That is a knock in the bullet proof armor that D* has by being the only source for the Sunday ticket. I wonder if the NFL would make more money by not renewing the next contract with D* and just selling their own PPV events to each cable/satelite provider.
D* must pay some serious cash to keep them as the only source for the ticket.
I have the ST, but i have not added the superfan. I also do not subscribe the the HD package from D* as it simply doesnt offer much HD content IMO. I get all HD OTA. So, since I do get the NFL network, will I get the game of the week in HD, or will that only be given to those that subscribe to the HD package from D*? Im sure this must already be determined.
Thanks for the info,

How many of the 90 min games will you watch if they aren't live? D* had the 30 min replay games last year and I watched maybe 4 of them all season. It's just not all that enticing after the fact, and I am a football nut.

have you called D* to ask about the superfan discount? I called last week and asked if there was a discount since they didn't have a box that could take advantage of all of the superfan features (dvr, hd, interactive). They gave me the superfan for free. Nothing better then watching two nfl games in HD at once with the hd tivo dual tuner cache and 30 sec skip button to speed through the play clock. That is the experience I am most dreading losing if the ST is mpeg4 next year.

I just recently started back at this site so I may have missed the talk of the mpeg4 for next year. Is there a thread somewhere discussing the ticket being available on mpg4 only?
If so, wouldnt you just make the switch to D* new HD DVR?
No, I havent called about free SF yet. I just got the deal today for the free (shipping costs) hr10-250 today. Ill wait a month or so and then call for the free SF.
Damn ESPN taking over MNF just sucks as it will force us to get the hD package now to watch MNF in HD, where as before it was free OTA. I cant stand paying ANYTHING extra to get shows in HD.
I guess tying the ticket to ANYTHING they seem fit is one way to ensure a ton of us make whatever moves D* wants us to.
I guess if they told us we had to where a pink shirt at the time of broadcasts or the signal would be lost would have lots of us wairing pink on Sundays.

Nope. Just speculation since ST HD uses a lot of bandwidth.

I called and got the free SF and was denied the free HR10. I called back the next day and got the free HR10.

Same as last year if you wanted to watch the Sunday night game in HD. Now you get the Sunday night game in HD OTA.

I e-mailed D* about this about 2 weeks ago and their response was that it would be channel 84, I wrote back saying that I didn't have a channel 84 and they responded that the channel would only be available when showing NFL network games in HD. Don't know if this is BS or not but I do know I got a free hd10-250 and free SF so check out that thread!
Called D* today 6/24 and the CSR confirmed that only shows in HD will be shown on 84 during the summer which is Wed@9 nfl films present.
