Need to restart Tivo every time I want to connect.

So, I'm wired to the network and can connect to Tivo once only after I restart Tivo. Works then, but by the time the system attempts the next connection, it gets a gateway not found error. Any thoughts?

Did you try resetting both the cable modem and the router, then a new guided setup?

I am also losing my connection with my Tivo. Your problem sounds very similar to mine. I have a Philips DSR704. I did a PTVnet and Instant cake, to a new hard drive successfully (I think). My Tivo works normally except for my connectivity.

My network is hardwired; I am using a Netgear 5 port Ethernet Switch FS605 and a Netgear FA120 USB for my Tivo. I have all firewalls turned off. When I restart the Tivo, I can connect for about 3 minutes. It appears that when the Tivo is completing the boot process I lose the connection. The problem occurs both when I am connected and disconnected to the Internet. The IP always comes up the same. DHCP flag is on, Static flag is off. Any suggestions please?
