 A friend's upgraded SD-DVR40 (40GB + 300GB) had the secondary drive (300GB) crap out. Seagate replaced it under warranty but now I need to put an image on it. I have an SD-DVR80 backup from my old non-upgraded one (80GB) but I don't know if it will work on an SD-DVR40. Anybody know if this will work correctly?

I have a Replay TV unit as well as a Tivo unit (250 hour from Weaknees). I am aware Tivo won the competition.

However, I wonder if I am doing something wrong with my Tivo. With Replay TV: all commands respond instantly, I can skip ahead 10 days looking for programming within 6 seconds, all of my recordings are a-z rather than by date recorded (Tivo), I can rename the sort section and I can rename the name of the recording (This helps in reorganizing and sorting), when paused, Replay switches to a screen saver in 45 seconds so there is no burn in (Plasma), searching for titles is 10 times quicker and easier, etc.

Can Tivo do this and I just don’t know how?

I want to buy two more units and I just bought a 50” Plasma. Do you recommend buying Direct TV HD units or the standard edition so I can network them?

Do you have a guess as to when, if ever, the Direct TV HD Units will be able to be networked?

Do you think Series 3 will be a software upgrade if I buy a series 2 now?

Is there a way to use 6.2 networking software with Direct TV HD?

Is it accurate that the HR10-250 cannot receive the DirecTV HD locals (if available in your area) because the new local market HD channels are being delivered in an MPEG4 format? The HR10-250 can only decode MPEG2 -- From what I understand, the decoder is part of the hardware of the unit and not the software, so no update will allow the HR10-250 to receive the MPEG4 streams.

Thanks.

Jim

You may want to re-post this message in the main 'TiVo Upgrade Center' forum rather than in a reply to this thread within the forum.
