I suspect that I have a failing A drive in my HR10-250, which I have previously upgraded so that the A drive is the 250GB stock drive, and the new second drive is a 400gb unit.

If I want to replace the 250gb A drive with a new one of the same size, can I just dd the old A drive to the new one and re-insert? Or do I need to marry the A and B drives again afterward?

Thanks for your help!

You should be able to dd the 250 to a new drive. You just need to make sure that the actual amount of space available on the new drive is at least as much as on the old drive. Actual drive size can vary between manufacturers (and models).
