need help installing tivoweb

all this talk about telnetting and ftp'ing into tivo series 2, but nowhere can i find out how to access/activate those features. i would think the kernel would need to be modified. is there a guide somewhere on doing this? i have a tivo brand series 2 DVR and i upgraded the HDD to a 160 gig. eventually i want to install tivoweb, but i need access to the tivo box via telnet or ftp first.

Just download a PTVNet bootdisk from PTVUpgrade.com and run it on your current drive. It won't erase any of your current settings or recordings and will install the necessarty ftp and telnet utilities for you.

doesn't that only work with directv units? cause mine is standalone.
