Anyone have it where their HD Tivo will not get past the Welcome powering up screen???? It was working earlier, then i turned it off and then it kept telling me channels weren't available...so I rebooted it...now nothing....thanks in advance for any help...

If youve already tried the reboot path, then maybe a small drop (from about 1.5 inches) onto a floor or table may help. If not, then get on the phone to D*.

then i turned it off
And how did you do that? Are you saying you put it into Standy mode or did you unplug the power cord? If it's the latter, is that something you do on a regular basis?

I turned it off with my remote. Was playing Xbox 360 and so my harmony 880 turned it off. I played the xbox for a while and when I started the Tivo again, it told me that all my channels were unavailable. Thought I needed to reboot it, so THEN I unplugged it. The first time it hung up at Almost there...just a few more seconds. Then I unplugged it again and that's where I am now....welcome...starting up....

Hate to say it, but I've seen this before. In my case, the hard drive was bad, and I had to get the unit replaced. D* did it for me as I have the protection plan with them.

i'd never intentionally drop my tivo. hard drive heads spin pretty fast and i can't imagine that would help things and may even hurt.
i'd power down and try to reseat cables internally as it appears you have nothing to lose at this point.
or just keep on rebooting..you may get lucky

I had something similar once. Check all your cables unplug both sat inputs then plug them back in, restart your tivo. You might also want to pull out your card and put it back in.

I've seen all the steps to backup my hard drive and put it onto a new hd, but is there a iso out there to actually just throw onto an hd esp since I can't do anything with my hd now??? Thanks in advance!

"Instant Cake" from PTV Upgrade. There's a link at the top of this page

Thanks bidger. Is the HR10-250 considered a series 2 dvr?? Do I need anything else besides that and an IDE drive (of at least 250gb)? Thanks again!!!

Here's (http://downloads.ptvupgrade.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PLST) a link that's more explicit as far as the model description. HD-TiVo is item #8 down the list.

Do I need the Weaknees boot or the ptvnet boot disk with this??? I see some places where it shows that. Thanks again!

No, unless you plan on doing mods.
