Hi guys I am in the chicago areaand have the motorola 6200 High Def converter box from RCA cable along with my Series 2 tivo. I have a toshiba plasma 42 inch 42hp66. I understand the tivo will not record HD but is there a way I can have it hooked up so I just record a regular signal. Is this possible?

I am using the 6200 and have composite video and audio out going to the video inputs on my series 2. I let the series 2 control the 6200 via IR. I am then running the Tivo video and audio out to one of the video inputs on my TV and a second component video and optical audio cable from the 6200 to another input on my TV. The Tivo will control the TV including the HD channels. If the Tivo tries to record on the HD channels, it is converted down to SD for composite output so it will still record just not HD quality. If I am watching an HD channels real time, I switch video inputs on the TV to get full HD. Meanwhile the Tivo is still keeping an SD live buffer of the broadcast if I want it.

Right now, Comcast only has five HD channels in my area and many of those only broadcast HD part of the time. A second HD recorder would confuse the rest of the people in my household so recording HD is not yet worth the problems is would create for me. Until I see a series 3 or something else changes this approach gives me most of what I want...
