I have a need for a RCA stereo (L+R) audio cable splitter but havn't been able to find one searching online, but that is probably because I don't know the correct search lingo for it.

Anyway, the need is this: I just bought a HDTV plasma and got a HD cable box (Motorola) from Charter Communications. The problem lies with the fact I have a Series 2 SD TiVo. TiVo quality from coaxial connections looks crappy on the 42" plasma. I wanted to order the HD-DVR but Charter is backordered indefinitely in my area. Since I love timeshifting my TV watching I need to setup the system to work with both my SD TiVo and my HDTV.

I have the coaxial going from the wall to the HD Cable Box. Then I have one DVI + RCA to the TV for the HDTV viewing when I am home. Note: the cable box does not support HDMI! Then I would like to run an S-Video from the Cable Box to the TiVo for input for maximum SD quality. However, here is the rub, the cable box only has one set of RCA audio outputs. The cable box does have an optical audio output BUT the TiVo does not an input for optical audio input. (Note: the TiVo connects to the TV via S-Video and RCA audio outputs)

So if anyone knows what to search for to find a splitter, or another way of setting up the system, please let me know. Otherwise, I may have to quit cable and go with DirecTV to get a HD-DVR.

Thanks
B

I presume you mean a Y-adapter like this

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103638&cp=2032058&f=Taxonomy%2FRSK%2F2032058&categoryId=2032058&kwCatId=2032058&kw=rca+y&parentPage=search

You'll need 2 of them.

RCA splitter aka Y-adapter. Like this Radioshack item (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103862&cp=&origkw=rca+Y-adapter&kw=rca+y-adapter&parentPage=search) or the one at monoprice (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=663&seq=1&format=2&style=). You can get something like this at any electronics score, most department stores for a few bucks. Would need two of them, one for each stereo channel.

Or, get a home theater system so you can listen to the Dolby digital via coax or optical digital out.

Thanks, that is exactly what I need.

As for the stereo, I do have an older BOSE lifestyle surround system with digital coaxial input that I will plug the TV into. However, to get that working I need to get the box that converts digital optical output (the output on all my other pieces) to digital coaxial. It should be coming in another day or so.

Thanks
