Advance apologies for the repetitive nature of this post. I have indeed done a bunch of reading and spent way too much time on this setup. Any help is sincerely appreciated.
Equipment.
Panasonic Plasma HD TV
Comcast 5100 Cable Box (DVI out)
Bose 321 A/V System (w/DVD Player)
Tivo Series 2 (Humax Box w/DVD Burner)
As it stands...
Cable is split, one going to the Comcast Box, the other directly to the HD TV. As i understand it, this should give me the ability to use the TV input to watch analog cable channels while Tivo does its thing.
From Comcast Box: DVI to HD cable conneted to HD TV. S Video going to Tivo Box. Optical Digital going to Bose A/V
From Tivo Box: S video to HD TV. Audio (Red/White) to Bose A/V
From Bose A/V: Component Video to HD TV (for DVD Player). Digital Audio to HD TV i think, doing this from work.
For reference, these are the input/outputs that the Bose has:
3 audio inputs (3 analog, 3 coaxial digital, 1 optical digital)
2 video pass-through inputs (composite and S-video)
Video output for TV (composite, S-video, and component)
Questions. Is this right? I understand that right now im not Tivo'ing in HD. I can watch the HD no problem. When i use the Tivo input on the TV, it seems I'm getting the audio from whatever cable channel the Comcast box is on, rather than what should have been recorded.
Also, i have the IR cable being delivered today, which i understand will enable the Tivo box to change the Comcast box channels. This will plug into the back of the Comcast box and the Tivo remote will become my primary remote. Correct?
Any other input is appreciated, particularly from anyone that has this type of configuration. Thanks so much.
Jim
