Hi
I recently got $ky to replace my old On-digital box.
I was supplied with a Thomson 4214 box which seems reluctant to reliably change channels. Is code 20016 correct for this box?
Are all sky boxes the same in having no channel number display on the front. This was always a great feature on the On-digital box as it would save having to turn the TV on to check if the box has correctly changed channels.

I'm upstairs away from my Tivos at the mo but if that's the "Grundig" codes then yes, they're the best fellas as they also transmit a "SKY" button press to wake the box first - if Sky have done something that puts your box in standby (firmware upgrade, or a really odd problem peeps were having a while back where the box would go into standby at a certain time).
I find "slow" works best with both my Tivos and digiboxes. You may need to experiment a little with the IR transmitters - and I never know whether I should be using one or both - in fact with a recent swap-around of my AV gear, I changed one Tivo/Digibox pair from using two, to only using one. Have a play - channel up/down on the "Peanut" are your best friend for testing as they do the full channel change.
Of all the boxes I have seen over the last few years, none have had a channel display - though I can't say for certain about that Sony one.
Hope this helps,
Tony.

Sky boxes do not have front panel displays.
For reliable channel changes use a Sky-Eye Tivo.

Hi
Tony
Thanks for your info, I agree that 'slow' seems to be the most reliable, but that is not saying much in my case!
I had spent ages going through different codes without finding anything more reliable.
I looked at pictures of the Sony box, no display either

Sounds like the bit of kit I need. Thanks
So it seems like it is a feature of Sky boxes not to display the channel number on the front panel. I find this a strange omission, but obviously I am in a minority.
Cheers
Graham
