Just thought you may like to know that the Slingbox can be had from buy.com for $175.99 inc free shipping.

I'm not associated with them - just passing on info received in an email.

Rat Shack and good prices don't seem to belong in the same sentence :)

While not directly useful today it does provide info about how low things have been before and how low one might reasonably expect things to go again.

The offer from SlingMedia expired a while ago. I got mine the day before it ended. :D

Using Etivo (free) and Windows Media Encoder (free), you can just about duplicate Slingbox.

I was checking out the slingbox deal on buy.com and thought I would check it out on the forum...then I saw your post how Etivo just about duplicates a Slingbox...
Just curious...is this hard to set up with a dsl connection...and can you watch things as they download (on either system) or are you waiting for a complete download and then watching?

I was able to setup it up pretty easily using OOL and a cable modem. Once eTivo has finished enocoding your shows into your preferred format (WMV, Divx, etc), you can start streaming it to your remote locatation. You don't need to wait for the full download.
