I've looked under every option under my account at directv.com and still can't find an option to discontinue billing notification online. I see where to get ppv and other newsletters (which i haven't gotten for years as a matter of fact) but can't find where there's the on/off switch for online billing notification

I just marked their e-mails as spam and let my hotmail block them.

I just got an email from DirecTV which may help.
Dear DIRECTV Customer:
Thank you for choosing to view your DIRECTV bill online each month. In July, we are simplifying our billing and will no longer send you a paper statement in addition to your E-bill notification. To print a copy of your DIRECTV E-bill from any PC, please sign in at DIRECTV.com, and follow the directions listed on the "View Statement" page.
If you would prefer to continue to receive a paper bill instead of going paperless, go to the "View Statement" page, click on "Customer Profile" and de-select the statement option box.
Sincerely,
DIRECTV Customer Service

Thanks Jim..i never even saw that option on the left as the customer profile and other options are blue on blue!!!! So much for a new and improved website. I guess I'll fill out their survey next time i get asked to do one.
my box is currently unchecked so i left it that way. Looks like i'm safe.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that had trouble with this. Thought my eyes were getting worse.

No, I had problems also. I loathe their website! The funny thing I did not have paperless billing marked. I do not know why they sent me the notice in the first place. Should be interesting when they stop sending me the bill anyway... The only problem is that I have auto pay to my credit card so it will be more of a test to see how long it is before I realize I haven't seen a bill lately.... :D

I just got an email today thanking me for switching to paperless billing.
I didn't think I switched to anything.
Went to where the email said to go to cancel said paperless billing, and the option was unchecked,
so I left it as is.
I like paper bills, even though I'll usually pay online,
the paper bill seems to be more detailed than the online one.

autopay/......zoinks! doesn't it just bug you on principle that they take it out the day they send your bill..not the due date...a huge advantage for them if millions do it from a cash flow perspective. I had no idea they did it that way and stopped autopay after one time.
also i hear once they have your credit card ur can get in trouble other ways but wont bore you with them now
I got the same e-mail saying I switched to paperless billing. I viewed the online statement and paperless billing is unchecked.

Deals like this make paying the small service charge for Quicken Bill Pay very worthwhile. That way I can control when it gets paid.

Deals like this make paying no service charges for Quicken with Commerce Bank very worthwhile. :D
(Seriously, consider a bank that permits free bill-paying with Quicken, like Commerce does, and avoid even the Quicken Bill-Pay service charge. Why pay a fee to someone just to pay bills?!)

Credit Unions are the way to go....You are right about FREE everything and they pay higher percentages on savings than the GREEDY big banks.

Watch your cc use, though. I went to automatic billing with DTV last year and they charged me TWICE for the NFL package over a six-month period. To get it corrected and then credited took five phone calls and about an hour total on the phone. They still couldn't fgure out why they billed me twice. I went back to paper bills.

drew2k, I have banked with Commerce Bank since 1984 and they charge me $9.95/month to use Quicken software to pay bills here in St. Louis. I have tried to negotiate with them, citing my long term as a customer, multiple accounts, etc. but to no avail. Perhaps their fee requirements are different in your state. Do they have anything in writing there confirming no fee for using Quicken Software to pay bills? I'd like to cite that to my local branch if you can send me a link, etc.
Thanks,
Larus

Thanks,
LarusI have a feeling we're dealing with two different bank chains named Commerce Bank, as mine is based in Southern New Jersey and only serves Metropolitan Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Washington, DC, Virginia and Southeast Florida.
Here's the bank's home page (http://www.commerceonline.com/) and here's info on using Quicken with Commerce (http://www.commerceonline.com/glossary/showContent.cfm?subtopicid=2282) . I can attest there is no fee even though the web site makes no mention of it.
I really do love my Commerce, as I get excellent customer service, free ATM withdrawals anywhere (via monthly refunds of the other banks' surcharges), they're open 7 days a week and most nights are open until 8 PM, and when you call the 1-800 number, you immediately hear a human who asks how they can help you or direct your call, and most times they have the answer you need and you can hang up feeling well-served. (No touch-tone-tag!)
You can open an account online (https://secure.commerceonline.com/forms/bank/col_process.cfm?type=open_account), so maybe it's time to ditch your Commerce and try another Commerce? :)

I deal with Bank of America.
Not only can I pay bills online for free, and manage them....
They will also MAIL checks for no additional charge to pay a bill. All you have to do is have the funds in your account, and sign in online and put in the address, etc, etc, and when the checks need to be to the person by
you can setup recurring payments as well
it's very nice
This was convienent for me, as my landlord didn't take online billing :)
I will never leave Bank of America

I will never leave Bank of AmericaGuess what? You don't need to be a Bank of America customer to get that. Commerce does all of too. :)

I have had similar service (including free mailing of checks to non-electronic merchants) from Citibank since 1985! (I have had about 16,000 transactions thus far).

I also got the same e-mail saying "thank you" for switching to paperless billing, even though I did not request any changes.
Decreasing picture quality, no choice any more in manufacturers or ird features, no new tivo feature updates (and now no new tivos at all) and now they want to railroad me into giving up my paper bill statements......
There's a serious lack of "joy" and I'm beginning to think the only thing they "love" is my wallet.
Yeah, thanks directv. Thanks a lot.

This is BS! I go to the "view statement" page, click on "Customer Profile" and there is NO statement option box. WTF???
I didn't receive my paper statement in the mail this month, so now I'm forced to pay it by CC, when I prefer to send a check. I got a paper bill for June, but not July. I want my paper bill sent, dammit.
