Well, not quite yet..

I think its terminal - Green Screen of Death all day. Reeboots no fix.. DTV wants a 2 year (!) commitment for a 'free' loaner. Its a HR10-250.

I want to split it apart, put in a big new harddrive and live happily ever after.

Whaddoido? I hacked my other non-hd tivos myself w/ bigger drives, but I dont have an image or anything for a HDTivo.. Been searching forums but a but unsecure on where to get a DTV HDTivo image that I can image on a drive or similar..

Thread links or general advice much appreciated!

Good google. Ideally I'd love an image with some of the enhancements (like no-nag if it hasnt dialled in for a bit and so on.. I havent seen any network interfaces for the HR10-250, so I guess that prob wont work that well.

Which instant cake should I get?

The instant cake folks sent me to
http://downloads.ptvupgrade.com

But I just see a ptvupgrade image - is that the whole image I need on a clean new drive?

Thanks as always!!!

You want this one (http://downloads.ptvupgrade.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ICAKE-S2DT-HD&Category_Code=)

You burn this to a CD (as an ISO image, not a file), connect your new drive as secondary master and boot the CD. Then follow the instructions. I believe this image DOES have some enhancements, but I'm not sure which ones. You can network-enable the HR10 without much effort.

I would suggest the Tivo Underground forum below. Search for the Zipper and follow the easy directions. This is much easier than the PTV upgrade method and comes with most of the features that you want.

What will really be good is if and when the HR10 receives the 6.2 upgrade that MRV and HMO may be available on the HR10.
Hope this helps
